Correction: OEProof previously rejected the 6T30 application stated for 24263196. That rejection was too strong. The problem was not that new evidence simply “disagreed” with us; the earlier review had treated absence from one professional catalogue as evidence against 6T30. Reverification has now identified catalogue-level 24263196 examples in both MH9/6T30 and MH8/6T40 contexts. The corrected conclusion is bounded: 24263196 appears as a Gen 2 control-solenoid filter plate in specific catalogued 6T30 and 6T40 applications, but that does not establish universal 6T30 fitment or same-generation interchangeability.

What did we originally say?

The original article, published on 2026-08-20, opened with this conclusion:

Short answer: our supplier catalogue contains a listing for 24263196 that names both 6T30 and 6T40. We did not treat that title as fitment proof. In our controlled fitment review, the 6T30 portion was not supported by the professional catalogue evidence used for this identifier, so the record was classified as conflicting and the 6T30 claim was rejected.

That historical statement is preserved here because silently replacing it would hide the most important part of the case.

The supplier title itself was source_row 2169:

The title explicitly contained the part number, “newer version” wording, and both 6T30 and 6T40.

Our mistake happened after that source record was collected.

The error was in our inference, not in transcription

The controlled review used a professional Singte transmission catalogue. It showed 24263196 in a later 6T40/6T45 Gen 2 context and did not show a 6T30 entry for that identifier.

We turned that into a stronger downstream statement:

one catalogue does not list 6T30 → the evidence does not support 6T30

That conversion was not justified.

A catalogue can omit an application because the application is wrong. But it can also omit it because of catalogue scope, market, model-year coverage or product coverage. Unless the source explicitly excludes the application, or is demonstrated to be exhaustive for that scope, absence is not the same thing as negative evidence.

What is the corrected fitment statement?

The evidence now supports a narrower, generation-aware statement:

In the catalogue evidence we captured, 24263196 appears as a Gen 2 control-solenoid filter plate in specific MH9/6T30 and MH8/6T40 contexts. These are application-specific catalogue records, not proof that 24263196 fits every 6T30, every 6T40, every Gen 2 unit or every market.

Was the supplier's “6T30 6T40” title wrong?

The new evidence changes how we classify that title.

The combination 6T30 6T40 is consistent with the union of the captured catalogue contexts. The earlier decision to treat the 6T30 term as a conflicting field was therefore not defensible.

But the supplier title is still incomplete as engineering guidance.

Its generation cue is the Chinese word 新款 — “newer version.” That is useful supplier language, but it is not the same thing as a verifiable Gen 2 / 2nd design boundary tied to a VIN, production configuration or catalogue application.

So the corrected defect is:

That is a very different problem.

Why does generation matter more than the transmission name here?

GM PI0604C documents generation-sensitive valve-body/control and filter-plate changes in the 6T30 / 6T40 / 6T45 / 6T50 family. It does not independently identify 24263196; the identifier-level evidence comes from the catalogue records above.

The catalogue evidence also shows the same design-generation concept crossing transmission-code contexts.

That supports the following bounded working rule for this part:

GM's current public page identifies 24299031 as a control-solenoid-valve filter plate with OE classification, but the evidence held here does not include a GM-primary predecessor statement directly saying 24263196 → 24299031.

So the safe wording remains:

What changed in our verification method?

The correction is bigger than one part number.

Our review rule is now:

Absence from a single catalogue cannot be used as negative fitment evidence unless the source explicitly excludes the application or is shown to be exhaustive for the relevant scope.

That method repair is why we audited the broader rejected/downgraded SKU set after RV-01 rather than fixing only 24263196.
